      • You folks can get Fox News Channel as a live feed by adding to your roku something called Channel Pear. Google it…it’s not hard to find and it will show up on your roku menu as channel pear, but click that link and it will take you to the channels you select from Channel Pear. Channel Pear will give you access to 600 English speaking channels including Fox News Channel just like the cable and satellite providers have. You can only use four channels of the 600 at a time on Channel Pear, but you can switch them in and out to any of the 600.

      • Joe, I use Channel Pear, but there are several channels such as Fox and CNBC that seem to buffer constantly. Do you need to have the Roku on Ethernet for those channels, rather than Powerline or wifi as I do?

    • Coincidentally, I discovered this same way of watching msnbc last week. I was experimenting with channel PEAR, a Kodi add-on that I downloaded on my Raspberry Pi/OSMC. channel PEAR makes available a number of user-submitted online TV streams, centralized on their cloud database. You can add CP as a Roku private channel and also use with Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast, or Plex.

This week, the msnbc link broke. I found on the user forum that the USTREAM playlist link had changed. Not being a paying customer yet, I didn’t have a way to add this new playlist URL to my personal library.

However, I blundered into another way to watch it. For the heck of it, I clicked the playlist link in the browser on my wifi smartphone. The phone asked if I wanted to “Play on Media Center”. This was due to my already having an app called Yatse installed and set up to control the Pi. When I clicked it, the channel showed up on the big screen via the Pi!

    • True, and Sling TV (link to previous post) could be a great option for those who want CNN, ESPN and other basic cable channels such as AMC, A&E, TNT, HISTORY, TBS, Food Network, HGTV, IFC, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, and Lifetime (though no Fox News or msnbc).

But if you are a dedicated cheapskate (Sling TV is $20/mo), you might want to try my method in this post: Use Chromecast to watch online cable news You can watch CNN, CNBC, msnbc and Fox News, though it isn’t as simple as pushing one button.
